Qigong on the Go – Vol. 2, No. 1
I’ve created an audio track (MP3) which serves as my time keeper every morning for a seven minute meditation. Write to me and I’ll send you the track as a free gift. There’s a pleasant sweeping musical sound that marks every one of the seven minutes before returning to silence. Each minute has a different focus. (I’m getting most of this meditation form from the great Tony Robbins and his morning Priming Practice.) Here’s the breakdown of the seven minutes:
- 3 Gratitudes
- 3 Manifestations
- 1 Divine Animal Spirit
For each of the first 3 minutes, focus on something you are grateful for. Really get into the feeling of gratitude. It could be your cat, your wife, your favourite song–anything! You could pick three new ones every day or stick with some staples.
For each of the next 3 minutes, focus on something you wish to manifest. Feel as though what you wish for is already real for you.
Finally, I spend a minute with one of the Seven Animals of qigong that I work with. Each day of the week has a different animal: Monkey Monday, Deer Tuesday, Snake Wednesday, Tiger Thursday, Bear Friday, Crane Saturday, and Dragonfly Sunday. I simply open my mind to seeing this animal in some form. The form is always changing. This week Monkey was young and agile and strong and confident. Yet, with his Monkey intellect, he was unfortunately unable to understand the universe in its fullness. Last week, Monkey was old and just sitting there as if on a couch he rarely rose from. It seemed he had seen it all and was ready to laugh at all of the foolishness we get ourselves into. If the animals don’t seem resonant to you, I invite you to choose something else with your seventh minute. Whatever it is, I encourage an openness of mind to allow your higher wisdom to show you something that may aid you in your day.
That’s all for now,
Thomas Silvani
